I’ve been waiting for this to pop up on youtube for two years now. It was made by Daniel Nocke, it’s all in German, it’s filled with awkward animals, and I love it.

Okay, so this certainly isn’t the first time someone has made a comic out of pixel art. But a couple things set Super Oors World apart. First, is the pleasing lack of text—making this essentially a “silent” comic. Second, it’s completely Creative Commons licensed, including the sprite characters themselves, so that you can make your own comic. Oh yeah, and it’s also funny, which helps!

A comedic guide to life by pseudonymous Winston Rowntree with anthropomorphic animals. I wish someone had given this to me as a kid. I could have handled it.

TotemX makes flipbooks. Lots of flipbooks. He then records himself flipping through them and adds foley. Yes.

In addition to their great Lasagna Cat and Infinite Solutions series, Fatal Farm has made a collection of videos in which they take intro music (and sometimes footage) from famous television intros and remix them with very entertaining results. Embedded above is the intro for Duck Tales. My other favorites include Alf, Doogie Howser, The Golden Girls, and Knight Rider.

The Parking Lot is Full is the first web comic I ever remember reading, back in 1996 when I was still connecting to the internet using AOL. Retired since 2002, the comic’s lasting legacy seems to be the Goofy Time meme, started by this comic. I remember PLIF as my first experience with a whole genre of excessively dark, overly conceptual web comics (the best of which is probably the Perry Bible Fellowship.) While PLIF is certainly hit or miss, and suffers from a now somewhat dated 90’s pop culture bashing aesthetic—I still find stuff to enjoy in it after all this time—it’s just so strange.

Dave Firth, flash animator, is best known for Salad Fingers and Burnt Face Man. Though those series are great, I also get a lot of enjoyment out of Mr. Firth’s occasional (and less well known) one-off animations. Here are two conceptual shorts I found amusing.

As always, there were some amazing shorts in this year’s Animation Show. This was one of the best. Stefan Muller’s got it going on.

Derrick is not a person’s name. It’s the name of this sketch comedy group.
Also check out their sketch "Mafia," which appears to all be done in one shot, demonstrating some impressive acting and comedic timing.

Dony Permedi submitted this as his graduate thesis at The School of Visual Arts. In case you didn’t know, SVA has a Masters of Being God Damn Adorable program.

I caught this at Animation Show last year. Run Wrake is a sick, twisted bastard.
